Marty, a 90 year resident of San Francisco passed away on Sunday, April 17. Beloved husband of the late Betty Stimmel who predeceased him just seven months earlier, son of the late Millie and Martin Stimmel. He is survived by his devoted children Gail, Greg, and David (Lorraine); adoring grandchildren Shannon Green (Bill Jr.), Nicholas (Rachelle), and Michael. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Marty was a graduate of Commerce High School; a World War Two Navy Veteran; member of The Old Timers Baseball Association, Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 4103, Verdi Club, So. San Francisco Elks Lodge, and The Native Sons. Marty worked for and later owned S. Friedman Supply Co. for over 50 years. He played semi-pro baseball for various clubs in San Francisco in the 1940's and watched continuous baseball on TV until the day he died. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Eleanor for her tireless devotion to our father/grandfather. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 26th 11:00AM, at Valente Marini Perata and Co.,4840 Mission St. San Francisco. Private burial with the family will be held on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the VFW Post 4103 in memory of Martin Stimmel, c/o So. San Francisco Elks, 920 Stonegate Dr., So. San Francisco, CA 94080.
