I guess the DNA doesn’t lie, though! My mother is half-Maltese. Her maiden name is Maryann Sherry. I have a lot of Maltese relatives in the Bay Area and Sacramento area. My grandfather built the original Maltese club in San Francisco many moons ago. If you look at the photographs on the walls of the Maltese club, my family is up there. Three of the Sherry granddaughters of John and Maryann Sherry were named after the grandmother who died at age 27 in Malta of a pregnancy related condition after giving birth to six children. It was probably an ectopic pregnancy. Five of the kids came one by one to the US. The sixth, Carmen, came over on a ship but was sent back to Malta because she had a little eye infection. in 2019. She was a registered nurse for 35 years, 32 1/2 years on a high-risk Maternity unit. in 2022.
