Obituary: on 3 September 2017: Charles James (Chuck) BORG (1931 - 2017)
BORG, Charles James (Chuck) Was born June 25, 1931 in San Francisco, California of Maltese immigrant parents. He grew up in San Francisco's Hunter's Point District, attending public schools and working odd jobs to contribute to his family's income. It was in SF that he met his future bride and love of his life, Margaret Kerr. Charles and Margaret were married December 2, 1950. They worked and saved for a future goal of moving to the country to raise their children and become farmers. Chuck was a pragmatic, practical, hardworking young man. He devoured any book on farming, animal husbandry, and viticulture he could find. In 1958 he finally found the property he'd been dreaming of, made a down payment and moved to Windsor, California. His place was a mixture of orchards, vineyards and pasture. He dove in and began by pruning grapes. He lived and worked for several months alone on the ranch, until Marge and the children moved up when school was out. Over the years Chuck and Marge worked side by side on the ranch. He gave up orchards to more vineyards; where he always made time to prune for the future not just the current big crop. He poured his blood, sweat and tears into the vines not getting off the tractor until he reached the age of 80. Chuck always said grapes need "Tender Loving Care to make good wine". Chuck and Marge raised six children to be hardworking, honest, self-reliant, good people. He read the classics out loud after dinner. He shared his skills, knowledge and values with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an active Catholic who sang in the choir and was involved in various church groups. He was a family man, a good man, a hardworking man and most of all a kind man. On August 16, 2017 he passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his wife, daughter and niece, Barbara Dorin. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Borg, his daughter Vicki Oldham and his five sons, Charlie Borg, Tony Borg, Dan Borg, John Borg and Matt Borg. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jim Borg, Mike Borg, Jenny Quigley, Alana Chin, Ashley Oldham, Eric Borg, Sean Borg, Chris Borg, David Borg, Richard Borg, Rachael Garcia, and Laura Marquez and his great-grandchildren Vienne, Naomi, Carson, Conner, River, Daysia, Liana, Mica, Tallis, Soren and Fennik. A Catholic Mass and Service will be said at St. John's Church, Healdsburg, CA on September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following at the Church hall. Instead of flowers donations may be made in his name to: Social Advocates for Youth, attn: Cat Cvengros, 2447 Summerfield Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95405.

Obituary: : Charles Carmelo Agius Resident of Elk Grove, California Passed away on Tuesday December 29th, 2020. He was 86 years old.

Born in Rabat, Malta to Giovanna and Emmanuel Agius on September 23, 1934, Charlie later immigrated to the United States with siblings Mary, Joe, Jenny, Frances, Betty and Lawrence. Spending his adolescence in San Francisco, California, he graduated from Balboa High School, took an interest in motorcycles with his teenage friends, and eventually met his future wife, Doris Muscat. Charlie and Doris were wed in San Francisco in 1957 where they resided for a period of time before settling in San Bruno, California for over 30 years. At times working three jobs at once, Charlie had a strong work ethic and carried a propensity for doing the job right. From his very first job as a pharmacist's assistant to working packing and assembly for American Can, handling local deliveries for a San Francisco butcher, maintaining machinery and equipment at L & L Castle Lanes bowling alley, sorting and processing lumber for Higgins Lumber Yard, and even jumping in to help his brother Joe with his newly acquired gas station, Charlie stood out and solidified himself as an asset. Further demonstrated by his time and expertise spent as a machinist for Service Engineering of San Francisco, where he participated in the maintenance and repair of some of the most prominent ships of the United States Navy; a position from which he eventually retired in 1995.

Upon retirement, Charlie relocated to Elk Grove, California where he enjoyed his remaining years. Here he regularly attended Saint Joseph Parish, where he made many close friends and became so well known he was trusted with a key to the church. Carrying an avid interest in vintage cars and machinery, during his retirement years Charlie would often have a project at hand. Whether carefully restoring his beloved 1956 Custom Cab Ford F-100, studying the mysteries of perpetual motion and sometimes even testing his own theories, or simply tinkering with random electronics, he greatly enjoyed furthering his understanding of the way things worked. Charlie is survived by his brother Joe and sister-in-law Carol; daughter Dianna and son-in-law Ray, son David and daughter-in-law Lorraine, daughter Lisa, and son Larry and daughter-in-law Kathy; grand children Miranda, Brandon, Jake, Jeremy, Jasmine, Dominic and Noah; great grand children Dax and Emmy; and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary: on 28 May 2023: Sylvia "Syl" Pignati
March 25, 1939 - May 18, 2023
Sylvia A Pignati, better known as Grandma to her grandchildren or Nanna to her great grandchildren passed away on May 18, 2023, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Arthur (Art) Pignati. Loving mother of Jeannine Mancini, Craig Pignati (Jessica) and the late Peter Pignati (Marianne). Devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Jay Schembri. Also survived by her cherished 7 grandchildren, PJ, Daniel, Jacqueline (Vova), Alyssa, Kiara (Kevin), Nicole (Jacob), CJ and her 2 beloved great grandchildren, Giada and Lev. Dear sister of Rosemarie Morando and sister-in-law to the late Albert Morando and aunt to Michael (Diane), Ken (Silvia), Julie (Mike) and Albert (Eleanora). Dear sister-in-law to Marie Cummings and Dolores Bauer and aunt to (Linda, Roberta, Bill, Marilyn, Stephanie, Luanna, and Lisa) as well as many other family members and friends.
Sylvia was born and raised in San Francisco and attended All Hallows Grammar School and Notre Dame Des Victoire's High School. She met "Art" at a teen club dance, and he swept her off her feet. They married in 1958. After moving to Millbrae in 1961, Sylvia loved being a mom. She would work some nights as a waitress at Oliver's restaurant in SSF. She then joined Black Mountain Spring Water in Human Resources where she worked until her retirement.
Sylvia loved supporting her family in every way, whether it was assisting to coach a team or supporting Art during his 40+ years in the Millbrae Lions Club. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Dunstan's Church. She was proud of her Maltese heritage and enjoyed spending time at the SSF Maltese Club for events and friendship. She loved playing Bunko, Phase 10, and any other card game with her many friends. She loved knitting and made so many beautiful infant sweaters, hats, booties and so much more. The family is fortunate to have so many treasured keepsakes of her "labor of love". Above all else, she loved her family and having everyone together while she cooked an Italian meal. This brought her the most joy.
Sylvia was recently promoted to a Great-Grandma "Nanna" with the arrival of Giada (17 months) and Lev (14 months) and there was nothing that brought a smile to her face like watching those two.
A special Thank you to Dr. Randy Chen, Mae Malit and Shawn Silburg for the care that you showed our mom during her final days.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 after 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS, El Camino Real at 194 Millwood Drive in Millbrae. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at Saint Dunstan Catholic Church, 1133 Broadway in Millbrae.
